Farm-level proxy authentication settings configuration in SharePoint server
Working on the SharePoint search we'll find an error that no federated search results are displayed in searches or we can see Location not found error if server proxy settings stops the search from accessing the remote location to crawl the. We have option to specify the proxy server settings to crawl the content and querying the resources on other network. So we have to use proxy server to bypass the intranet security.
We can configure the proxy server settings as the steps shown below,
Navigate to General Application Settings in SharePoint Central Administration and click on Farm Search Administration in Search section.
In Farm-Level Search Settings section, click on Proxy server settings in Farm Search Administration page.
In Search Proxy Settings dialog box, if we don't want to connect the proxy server select Do not connect by using a proxy server if we want the crawler to use proxy server while crawling the content select Use the proxy server specified option. If we select that option, we have to enter the URL in Address box. Enter the port number in port box if the proxy server is not using the default port.
We have to select Bypass proxy server for local (intranet) addresses check box if we don't want the crawler to use proxy server when crawling within intranet.
Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with box, we have to enter the URL of the crawler to access without going proxy server. We can enter multiple URL's by separating with semi-colons
If we want to search the system to go through the proxy server when querying the external content select Use these proxy settings for access to federated sites checkbox. And click on OK.
