Configure content deployment path in SharePoint 2013

Configure content deployment path in SharePoint 2013

Content deployment is a feature in SharePoint allows us to deploy the content from source site collection to destination. By default content deployment is incremental like it will deploy only changed pages and related contents such as images. Content deployment process is one-way process. It not supported to round-trip synchronization from source to destination. Creating new content or exchanging the existing content on the destination site collection will cause content deployment jobs fail.
In Content deployment, Source site collection base URL is differs from Base Url of destination site collection. Content deployment allows only web pages, libraries, lists and deployed page resources. This feature will not deploy programs, assemblies, features, configuration information.
We can create new content deployment path through Central Administration. We can do that using the steps below,
Navigate to General Application Setting's in SharePoint Central Administration, select Configure content deployment paths and jobs link.
We'll be redirected to Manage Content deployment page. Click on new path in Manage content deployment page.
In Create Content deployment path page, enter the name of the content deployment path in Type the name of this path box. Enter the description for content deployment path in Type the description of the content deployment path box.
Select Source web application in Source Web application list in Source Web Application and Site Collection section. Select source site collection in source site collection menu.
Enter Destination Central Administration URL in Destination Central Administration Web application section, Type the URL of the Destination Central Administration Server box.Select type of the authentication in Authentication Information section. We have two options, Use Integrated windows authentication to use windows authentication account credentials. Use basic authentication. By selecting the Basic authentication option, we need to enter the credentials in the text boxes. Click on Connect button to connect the web application.
Select destination Web application Url and Destination site collection Url in Destination web application and site collection section. To display the usernames associated with the documents, check Display user names check box in Usernames section.
In security Information section, Security information in the content deployment list, select the type of security information. Click on Ok button to finish the configuaration.
