This article will provide the necessary steps to add an existing user to an existing AD group on Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory Domain.


1. Ensure you are logged in to the Domain Controller as a Domain Admin.

2. From the start menu select "Administrative Tools", and then select "Active Directory Users and Computers".

3.  Double click the group that you would like to add the user to.  For this example we are using domain admins.

4.  Select "Members" from the tabs.

5.  Select "Add" and then enter the object name, or user name of the AD user that you would like to add to the group.  Then select "OK"

6.  The selected user will then appear as a member of the group.
